Baitcaster Rod

Hi forum
I wonder why Baitcaster Rod Reel seat & handle part can't be like shotgun handle which is
not straight stick like.
What I mean is Rod handle and where putting casting reel could be a bit down positioned
while front of reel of Rod is whearas up positioned so that line goes rather more direct straight forward.

i'm gonna need a sketch.  how would you thumb the reel like that?

for starters, the shipping rod tube is gonna be bigger in diameter.  i saw a rod with a pistol grip recently and i laughed.

Maybe I'm not seeing this picture correctly. If that is a low profile baitcast reel the angle of the line coming off it looks too sharp. If the line was continuously rub ing the bottom of the line guide it would cause failure.

Old time metal fishing rods used to have a similar handle/ blank design but we're made for round reels that sat higher. The line angle was fairly straight on those.
