Motor Support

I have a new 2023 Suzuki DP200A. Although it has a built-in motor support, the motor still will turn on its side during trailering.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a motor support?  I've seen a couple on the web that claim to work on Suzuki's but I'm not sure which one to buy.  Thanks.

I'm one of those that still likes using the old school transom saver.  Others swear by the motor toter style.  I don't think you can go wrong with either style, it's just preference and whether the motor toter style will fit your new engine...

Just did a quick search. Check out M-Y WEDGE TRANSOM SAVER. Affordable transom saver options are out there for that outboard.

I agree!

The built-in motor supports do little or nothing to prevent stress on the transom. My Etec have the built-in support, since the day it was new, I've never used it. I prefer the transom saver.

I have been using the Motormate product for the past 6 years.  My new custom trailer just did not dp well with the standard transom saver although it was my preference.  The Motormate product works very well and the motor will not turn with the Motormate installed.  Good quality stainless steel product available for a wide variety of motors.  My boat is an old 1991 Ranger 365V with a Johnson Fast Strike 150.  I have found the system to be very secure and easy to put on and take off.

I'm ole school here.  I use the transom saver / motor toter  on my Stratos & Yamaha 150 VMax.

These new-style "transom savers" do NOT save the transom. They don't take any of the motors' weight off of the boat. The old style is the only way to go.

I might be wrong, but that's my opinion as well. Old school transom saver is what I use. I think the argument for the new style ones like the Motor Mates is that it won't transfer road vibrations to the lower unit, but I'm more concerned about getting the motor's weight off the transom. I think with the newer Motor Mate style ones, you still have to use those chocks that keep the motor from turning, don't you?
