It will be summer fishing before we know it here in East Central Florida, water is warming after a fun spring of backcountry saltwater catching here on the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon. Summer patterns come in gradually over a month or two as spring comes to an end, open water game fish scatter out through the intracoastal waterway after the schooling pattern ends, fun Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish are widespread and regular rod benders through the summer. Bottom fish on the regular catch list include Whiting Pompano, Black Drum and more, Seatrout, Redfish and Snook are always a possibility too in the backwaters. Surprise fish are a usual event on some trips, like this "small" Tarpon recently, hooked, many jumps, and a quick Photo, Release for Bronson ..............

Black Drum are lurking on the bottom in the backwaters, along channels, in holes and off drop offs, they love shrimp so our usual choice of bait is just right, Jason here visiting from Oregon with a nice one before releasing ............

Jack Crevalle are a staple for fun catching, hard fighters, not picky on bait or lures make them one of my favorites for clients catching, Bob from New York with a good size one .................
