Jfly and I went down yesterday to run his new-to-him boat. We did not hit it hard at all, but there's things to share. We put in at the Gravois Mills access, and fished out to almost the mouth of the Gravois (Raccoon Creek).

The lake is around the 654 mark, so it's about five feet low. Water temps were from 46-50. Water visibility ranged from 3-4' in the main lake and the bigger creeks to a near perfect foot or so further back in. Early morning clouds blew out with the passing of a cold front (of course) for the first sunny day in over a week. Perfect to make the fishin' hard. Winds were north, northwest most of the day, 10-15 mph, then switching to the south later when I had to go to work. Of course.

Fishing was fairly tough, especially when I haven't been on the lake in March in at least three years. We caught fish dragging finesse stuff, mostly tubes, from shallow out to twenty feet or so. Those little bass that are in 20' of water in March just do not interest me. Jfly however is a Table Rock guy, so he digs it. Sigh.

The trick is the dirtier water, but when we got to that we ran into some nice Iowa guys that were in a tournament and we let them have the best stuff. Hope it worked out for them.

This week will be the big change for us in MO. That dirty water will really turn on as the temps finally reach the mid 50's (mostly the water temps are the same now as they were in mid-February, go figure). Spinnerbaits, cranks and jigs will rule for a couple of weeks, and if I was fishing myself you would see me throwing a jerkbait. A lot.

Not much of a report, but it is what it is.

Jeremy has got over his marriage issue, his health has improved, and he just got this near-new two-year-old Nitro. He does lurk here some.
