Boated my son and his fishing partner at Caddo this past Saturday. It was cold and rained on us almost all day. Pretty miserable, but the boys stuck it out.

Water temp stayed between 49-51 even with it being pretty dirty, and the water was still really high. The dock at Earl G was barely out of the water. Winds were off and on, but I know we had a pretty rough run across the middle of the lake around noon.

No bites all day for us, so unfortunately, not much to report. It's probably gonna hurt us in standings in the long run, because we usually can catch some on Caddo, but no dice this time. Definitely a bad day for us. Only about 13 teams out of 51 caught fish, and my inexperience with the conditions we had kind of bit us in the rear.

The few teams that caught 'em had excellent bags, mostly overs at 3+ lb, with some around 5-7 lb. Awesome to see those kids grinning ear to ear with those big bass!

I did not change with the conditions and my usual spots did not produce. We played the shallow game with the boys mostly running rat-l-traps and flukes. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably have them try jigs in some deeper water, especially creek beds. Don't know if it would've changed things, but I know what we did wasn't the ticket.

Oh well, live and learn.

Me too!  lo
But even a bad day of fishing is still a day of fishing. We'll try to get on 'em at the next one.

I hate that you all, and all the other kids, had to fish in such miserable conditions. But when its like that a few are going to find them and they will be very nice while the rest of us (I wasn't there but I'm usually in this category) struggle to get bit.

Caddo is fickle... Thanks for the report
