Fished the upper Potomac on Monday and caught 10 smallmouth bass in about 2 hours, late in the day.

Nice Smallmouth!   What part of the Potomac are you fishing there? It's been a long time since I've fished there, but I used to like the section where MD 34 crosses, between Sharpsburg MD and Shepherdstown WV.

Of course, I was usually fly fishing and wading there for them.

I caught these above dam 5, area known as 4 Locks.

OK, above Williamsport. Cool! 

I've never fished that area, but there was a lot of areas of that river that I never got to fish. I've crossed there on I-81 many times.

I spent more time fishing the Susquehanna than I did the Potomac. I had worked in Cecil & Harford Counties at times., so the Susky was more available.

We had a tournament today out of 4 Locks for the DNR to collect some smallmouths for a spawning project they have going in MD, they are trying to get the smallmouth populations better in Upper Potomac.  I weighed in 3 for 4lbs 12oz and the winning weigh was over 13 pounds.

A couple of Large mouths caught at Mr Bass tournament on upper bay this past weekend. My big fish was 4.97lbs.

Got a limit on the 1st MBN SQT on upper bay. 13lb 3oz

3lb Potomac river bass May 12, 2023

Caught some nice bass at Deep Creek this past Wednesday. Water temps 60-64, bass  were post spawn and eating a senko.
