Got a great deal on a couple like new Champion Extreme HP's. DX 741sf & DX 742sf. WOW! These newer models are "crisp" in action! I own several XP spinning rods that were built on the previous DX blanks,  2 models are 732sf (built on previous DX 742sf), & 733sf (built on previous DX 743sf) now to compare the action/power to the new DX blank is like night & day! The new model "1" power DX 741sf is waaaaaay more faster and poweful than the "2" power XP 732sf I have, and the new "2" power DX 742sf is faster and more powerful than the "3" power XP 733sf. Hell! I think the newer model DX 741sf stands up to my XP 733sf!!! HUGE differences in previous DX blank and newer DX blank, so for those who have an older model DX, and decide to get another, and expect the same
"feel"..........forget it!!! These are a different monster for sure! They seem to be a action/power "underated" than actual action/power. These 2 models are FAST! These are gunna catch some serious fish this year!

Thx for info on the 741. I have those other rods and like them all. That 742 is as good as advertised.

Good info to know!! Wonder what changed so much between the older and newer blanks?!

I've personally always thought Dobyns rods(across a broad spectrum) ran a tad "under" the stated power rating.

That's awesome.  When Gary came out with the HP's, he was quick to mention that he beefed up the middle third of the blank.  I noticed they were faster in action and were, as stated, crisp in feel. I have six total and all are tasked as bottom contact rods.  The 702SF is my drop shot rod and it's the deal.

I upgraded to the DX742SF as my primary dropshot rod, and I couldn't believe how much more sensitive that rod is, and the action is absolutely perfect! I still use a KD712SF for Ned rigs and a FR702SF as a backup. That said, I like the DX742SF so much, that I'd entertain switching to the 741 for Ned rigs if I found the right deal. The DX (Extreme HP) truly are that good!

Trey Harpel did a couple videos on them a few month ago on Youtube irrc.  I dont recall the specifics but I don't think he had any major complaints.

I remember talking to Brice about them when they first came out - he was pretty excited and they believe they compare favorably above their price point, but I haven tried one.

I have the DX 743SF and it is a fantastic rod. The sensitivity is a noticeable jump up from the Champs but not as good as my Xtasys. Still a killer rod in it's own right.

I'd like to get the DX 742SF as well. It's near the top of my wishlist for the future.
