I have heard great things about these cranks and apparently fish like them too.  Apparently they stopped being made.  Yes, I know i can go on ebay, but i'd like to know experiences using them.  I heard they might go through grass really good :)

Also, if someone has a bunch please PM me :D

I have a few. The ones with the rounded bills seem to work better around grass than the squarebills IMO. But the squarebills seem to get back on track quicker after deflecting off cover like stumps etc.

The Big Daddy Strike. I believe it was made in 3,maybe 4 sizes. The ones I have are 3's. Just a outstanding bait . I have one in Japan craw that is hard to come by but I really don't want to sell it. It's kinda like the original Vixens , I'd probably regret selling  .Don't buy any repaints, there has been some knock offs.
I'm not sure if they are still available in Japan or not but the Yen to Dollar is favorable these days. That holds true with reels also.

a friend/mentor of mine has one/two of those.  they flat out catch.  but as has been said:  tough, real tough to come by.

have been playing with the strike king 1.5's, 2.5's.   use the square bills for their ability to come through/over hard cover.  but the newer round-bill versions work pretty well in grass.

Just like you said smallie... not sure how/if the strike king versions work 'as well' as those BD's...  but sometimes, you are faced with 'use the tool you have' versus 'the tool you want'.

went out yesterday 'cause I could skip work and it looked like last decent day for being out.  water temps were down about 5°F from previous week.  50.5°F on the transom transducer.figured with current running hard I'd work for some brown bass.

managed ONE of almost 2 pounds... but that was 'cause she was as stuffed as possible with shad.  she hit a 3.8 keitech in blue-chartreuse on a 1/4 ounce head...  the other fish were spots.  one on a max scent worm, the other on a rapala deep shad ...  and a few others of smaller sizes tossed in.

figure it'll be somewhere in January before I take the boat out again...  it's time for the Big Chill...

good news is that this ought to hit the shad HARD and really stress 'em.  I kind of like big winter kills/die-offs.  think it makes for hungrier bass come spring pre-spawn and spawn...

possible one-inch of snow here tonight...

i agree completely about the shad kill -- it makes them move more and be more open to baits besides being so focused on the small threadfin.

definitely like the rounded off bill going to be awesome if i can keep them away from the floating eel grass.

I'd LOVE a thread where the topic was how to work eelgrass... that stuff it a pain.  even worse when it's torn up by wakes and floating...

i actually like it, minus the floating stuff obviously which is better to just move on if you see it gathered up and blown in.

the main reason I like it, is because it lives all year, which means that when the other stuff is dead or dormant (not sure hydrilla really dies or milfoil but i am probably wrong), but it gives the fisher a chance to at least have a more likely source that shad are eating phytoplankton which means bass will be near at some point.

Do i always catch them off eel grass?  No.  Do I always look at eelgrass that is still attached?  Yes 100 percent.

But yes, i would like a thread too -- id like to hear others ways of fishing it.  For me, I am a slow pull through it hoping to not catch it.
