lou, just tryin' to help the bait monkey ahead of the holidays...
picked one up today at the local bait shop... it's a 'long-body' poppin style frog.  thought it interesting as it could give a pretty good HBfrog impression of what I want in my pencil poppers.

cold here today.  gonna be a bit before I get to try it out.  but I got it none-the-less!

apparently it's been around for a bit... (since 2020?)... so I'm late to the party as per usual.

Gonna follow this thread. I got one of these when I won the UB Bassmaster Weight contest last year.

I find it harder to make popping frogs walk, (which could just be due to my lack of time on the water anymore) but this one was easier IMO.

I think it's due at least in part to the angle of the cup in the face. Instead of the typical round deep cup you'd normally find,  it's more like this  / like the old Yellow Magic popper.

I'm interested in what you find compared to other frogs you've fished.

I routinely 'walk' my strike king kvd splash (1/4 ounce) tied with a palomar knot to the line tie.  snug.
no problems getting my spro 65 poppin frogs to walk...

my preferred rods are all 7-5, 7-6 footers, XFast actions.  MH power for most part.  the trick for me?  how quickly I toss 'slack' back into the line.  that snap to move the bait is followed by a quick snap back to put slack in the line to allow the bait to move to the side...

Cool frog, looking forward to reading what your initial impressions are.

I find popping frogs are actually easier to walk than standard frogs, but hey, you throw frogs long enough walking them just becomes second nature. May need to tweak the slack on the line here and there depending on the brand, but they all walk relatively the same.  :surrender:

hope it works better for me than the 'trash panda' and that other model with the 'furry single tail'.  nice baits.  looked great in the package.

Yeah,,, that fury tail frog was a disappointment for such an expensive frog. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE frogs and am an equal opportunity frog buyer. BUT,,,, the more and more I frog fish, which is A LOT, I keep coming back time and time again to my Spro's.

agreed.  tough to beat 'em.  I've had similar success with the live target frogs... but when you want to find one, can usually find spros.  not always case with LTs.

I hear you. I had a long run with LT's. Their popping frog isn't that good, but their original HB is pretty good. The Spro's can just handle a lot more abuse.
