Most Dobyns Sierra rods get mentioned that are longer , heavier actions - but what about Jerk Baits (or double as a medium duty top water rod ) ? *Anybody use a Sierra casting rod 682 or 683 for jerk baits / top water ?

Look at the Kaden K6104CB or Champion 704CB.  Sierra is a tad slow for me but that's just me.

I can see wanting a jerkbait rod that is a bit faster / crisper action than the Sierra - I'll look at some others .

If a 6'8" rod is what you're looking for the Champ series has a 683 and a 684. Lots of guys swear by that 684. 683 will likely throw the lighter stuff easier though.

But I have to agree with DD on the Kaden 610-4 CB. It's one hellava great jerkbait rod. I also throw poppers and prop baits with it too. Just a great rod all around!

Sa683 is excellent in my opinion. The smallies I fish for need that slower tip to keep them pinned. Put a fast reel on it to keep the line tight and you are set.

*To confirm , are you referring to the Sierra bait cast 683 rod ?
