Headwaters yesterday with Crappie Carl and was so stoked. It has been almost 6 months since I made it there. Misty Rainy all day. Temps were comfortable in the rain gear though and water temps in the low 70's. No major Navigation issues but there were a couple blockages on the S Canal Just before it turns East. but you can get around them easy enough.
I have had a Thread about the Z man hellraiser going in the Lures forum on here. Well, the first cast was with this lure and the moment it hit the water Bam, 12 inch fish. This had me thinking it would be a great day. Both fish this lure has caught hit it as soon as it hit the water. I fished it for a long while afterwards and nothing. We tried several lures in the North pits and fished from zero water depth to 25 ft.  After about 2 hours with nothing Carl landed a 12 inch on a Fluke. 4 hours in and several locations I tied on a Spook and the second cast had a 2lb fish over 12 ft of water take it.  7 hours in and very discouraged Carl caught a 10 inch fish on a Frog. 8 hours we headed to the Ramp. The parking lot was empty with only 12 trailers still there. Normally this would be 150, so you know it was a tough day for everyone.
This is by far the worst day I have ever had on Headwaters and did not think this lake would get like this ever. Was I ever wrong. I believe the fish were buried deep in the Hydrilla and even punching was of no interest to them. One of the local Internet boys that guides out of there posted he had 3 about 3 lb looks like. He knows the lake better than about anyone else. The Fish won this day but I will be Back.

Appreciate the report Larry. When there lockjawed it's going to be a tough outing no matter who you are.

Great report Larry. Sorry I forgot to get back to you on a pm. I completely forgot until reading your report. I think many people have been fishing the spillway at the stick marsh on the south end and the other one that goes from the Stick Marsh and empties into the river that's west of the ramp. The running water bite has been on fire from what I've heard.

The announcement of this event was on FD's youtube channel this time around. Since several UB members follow FD's channel, I was curious who was going so I asked the question.

A report you say?  Ok here is the brutal truth from my end. We caught 15ish Bass in moving water in the morning, 5 Pickerel, 1 13 IN Speck. Our biggest Bass was 12 inches and I manage to walk away with the small fish Win at 9 IN. Captain Lou Pulled off the big fish WIN with a Whopping and I mean Monster 14 IN Bass.   :shocking: Yes the big fish were Brutal. BUT, You know what? We had a Blast with a bunch of Great Folks and it was a great day.

P.S. I was blessed to watch the most amazing boat launch in the history of boat launches. Boat was unhooked from the trailer, He backed in and it floated straight back within 2 inches of the Dock. Never touching the dock as he climbs out of his truck walking forward and then back down the dock to step right into the boat. No use of Pro poles, Trolling Motor, Ropes or latches of any type. Just let it float off and it went exactly where he wanted it!!!!!

Great seeing you again.

Excited to fish the Glades today. Let's see if the moon hasn't slowed things down.

Finally finished working on my FG video where I show up close and personal how to tie it. Have your notifications on for Monday. ;)

RangerAndBass

Plugged my boat charger in and noticed in the evening one of the batteries wasn't charging. I was concerned my charger was dying, so I put an external on figuring all would be fine in the morn when I was going to fish.
Get up this morn and it isn't fully charged, charger said 90%< multimeter said 12.4v. B KKut more worrying was the sound the battery was making. Sounded like bubbling.
So I happen to have brought a couple slightly used batteries down with me, so I put one in the boat.
Get on the water and sure enough the trolling motor is struggling.
Talons down, remove 2 of 3 of the batteries (the dead one couldn't be lifted out itself due to space limitations) & replace the bad one.
After that it was full speed ahead.
That was a 1st for me, hearing a battery make that sound. Scary.

Wow, it seems like it's always something.  May the gremlins just take a break!
