I don't get it. Why do people wear fishing jerseys if they are not a professional Angler or a guide? Isn't that like me wearing a Cincinnati Reds baseball uniform while I'm playing catch with my daughter? You should have seen all the jersey wearing people that weren't pros walking around at the icast trade show. Do they think that they look impressive or something? Ok, rant over, carry on!!

Couple real reasons I think.

1. They are actually sponsored by the companies on the jersey so wearing it is advertisement.
2. Its their college/high school/club jersey so no different then a football player wearing a jersey to represent.

Of course some get one made full of companies they aren't sponsored by just because but hey why not?

I am proud to show my club support and the companies I display are ones I use and support.

I actually get wearing them at trade shows  if you are sponsored by the companies whose logos you are displaying. Besides free advertising people ask you questions and you may generate some sales for your companies by answering.

I also get the guys who wear them when shooting videos for YouTube or even their personal VLog. This could get them a deal with the companies they are repping with their logos.

What I DON'T get is the guys who wear a jersey out just for a casual day of fishing if they are not sponsored. I've seen guys from local clubs show up to pre fish for an upcoming fruit jar in a fancier jersey than their club shirt.

What gets me even more is that in the old days you could change out patches on your shirt which made this relatively inexpensive. But with the cost of today's dye sublimated jerseys it just seems crazy to me to get a jersey full of logos for companies you don't represent just to try and look important. SMH.

I wear mine all the time.

For advertising, yes.

As a conversation starter, yes.

But mostly because they are extremely comfortable.

I wear mine to help out FD which has been very helpful to me.

Why do you wear a hat with advertising on it? Even a  Bass Pro hat you have to pay for it to advertise for them? Mostly you do it to show you are a fisherman and what you are into in your life. Not much different.

Do you really think that anyone cares or even notices what logos are on an amateur angler's jersey? Even if they are sponsored by a company for their 20 % discount on baits, that wouldn't incline most people to purchase products represented by the logo on the amateur angler's jersey.

I've been around pros that snicker when they see an amateur angler walk by with a jersey on  with all their "sponsors"

Mostly I only care about if it is cool (temp), Comfortable, and actually is big enough to fit.  I gave up on caring what others think years ago.

^^THIS 100%^^ Even with my Jeep website, I don't do "Sponsorship" A question I've been asked countless times is "Why not? You've got one of XYZ's decals on your rig, so why not have them sponsor you?" Well, it's simple. If I actually use and genuinely like your product, then the decal gets it's place earned. Compared to "They pay me to use and say how great it is." I am and will always be an Average Joe/Weekend Warrior, just like everyone else. Now I do have a UB decal on my boat, and I do get asked about it. That is one that has well earned it's place because of everyone here.
