After following Larry's Hellraizer's thread I was intrigued with this lure so I bought one of my own. I did not want to hijack Larry's thread, and decided to provide my initial thoughts of this lure.

The Zman Hellraizer is unique that's for sure! It's like a chatterbait and a streamlined spook hooked up and produced a mixed lure baby.  lo lo

It's 5" long and weighs 5/8oz, it has a #2 treble hook in the front and a feathered #4 treble hook in the rear.

Contrary to the Chatterbait, the blade on this lure is in the rear of the bait.

The line tie is underneath and little more than 1/4 of the way from the lures nose .

I will be providing my on the water review after I fish with it in Everglades on Monday.  ~shade

Stay tuned for the follow up and video real soon.  ~shade

That is the exact one I chose. Just need to get out and fish it.

Breaking in the hellrazier tomorrow. Decided to go with the Dobyns Sierra 734 on this one. Let's see how it goes. Stay tuned. ;)

Got to play with the Hellraizer for a bit today. That sucker puts out a lot of vibration. Sinks like rock, so you better start reeling as soon as lands on the water.
Fishing was tough today so had no takers on the Hellraizer . Maybe later this week. ;)

for sure it's no floater... but it comes up/planes easily.  more so than  most buzzbaits IMO...

I have been pulling mine with the rod tip as soon as it hits the water. That will keep it up until the second goes by till you start reeling. This also helped on the one fish that did hit it when it hit the surface. Kinda a auto hook set.

Thing looks like an aardvark.

Do you keep it topwater like a buzzbait?

Yes. It sinks too fast otherwise.

Not at this time.

Hobious

my eyes and mind are both so confused!!  that is a crazy bait!!

but seriously, I would pee on a sparkplug if someone told me it would help...  I would cast that thing if it works.

Let's try again. I'm shooting a video tomorrow breaking down this lure. Hopefully the fish will cooperate this time.  lo

lou, I would think that this would be a bait that would work best around the same times I toss the horny toad...  spring time.  little more open water.
right now, there's so much grass in the water it's tough to find places to really let it work.  that's 'here'.

although I just noticed that we're about at winter pool... so there will be a lot of bare banks to work.  usually this time of year, the bite is more subsurface though.

If our conditions were normal  right now, I would agree.  We are still dealing with the high water compliments of Ian. But you never know, I may come across a few tomorrow.

It's an odd - looking lure , I'm holding off from buying until I see more reviews ...

It's an odd looking lure that's for sure. I'm interested to see this lures performance in the Spring months.  :-*
