Been making a bunch of phone calls to some of the folks who I have fished with over the years.  Most are now out of the game so to speak.  We are all in are 70s and 80s and I am beginning to think I am the last one still wanting to go fishing.  Most have given up for a multitude of reasons. Medical issues seem to be at the top of the heap while some just gave it up and sold off their stuff and then there are those who are having to care for a spouse.  Unfortunately over the past year I have had 6 friends pass away.  I guess it is God's way to thin the herd.  For those of us who are still kicking it is hard to find a fishing partner.  Some of the younger folks I know still work and can only go fishing once in a while on the weekends while some focus on club or local tournaments.

My wife has been my partner for most of our fishing years and see too has some mobility problems and has experienced some illness this summer but is now thinking she will be able to fish this fall season.  I sure hope so.  Terry G is still unavailable for the fall season and I know it is driving him crazy. We usually do a spring and fall outing together but unfortunately not this fall.

Bud, I'd love to fish with you again. If we could meet somewhere in the middle, I'll bring my boat or you can bring yours.

If I was closer I'd take ya, ride with ya! While I'm far from a young gun, I know I've always been able to learn from a new partner, especially one with more experience than me.

Come to Maine and I will get you out. Plenty of room and a mostly free schedule. I can promise good fishing, we might even catch some too.

Bud, have you tried joining a local bass club?

At one time we had a small group of retired guys that would have a very friendly event a couple times a month, usually on a Thursday.  Over time the group dwindled away and thats too bad.  Most were a bit older than me so I understand how it happens.  I have fished with a couple local clubs but it was too serious for my liking and quite frankly was just not fun because of that.

My preference these days is to just go fishing and have a nice time.  I got wore out on the competition many years ago.

Bud, I would love to come fish with you sometime, but don't know how frequently I could manage it.   I have some things going here on that has been limiting my time, so travelling much has not been an option. Once things settle down, I'll contact you!  :)

Jim I have been considering a run down to Santee recently.  Sometime in early November might be about right.

Bud, I have an idea how you feel, most of my old partners have quit because of health problems, some because of conflicting must dos, and one moved away. I haven't been out in over a year and don't know when or if I'll be back on the water, I'm tired of getting cut and losing my summers. I hope to get back out next year with a smaller boat, I don't mind fishing alone but right now it's a bit iffy, hope you find a good partner, if I lived closer I'd be happy to go out with you.

I hope you can make a new friend and find a like minded partner. a great friend in a partner is a precious thing.  I say it this way because when I moved to Florida I met a person and we became friends and fished together almost a year. I noticed little things on occasion that bothered me but I tried to let it go and just be their friend. Then one day in the boat this person had a melt down per say and became violent and threatened me while psyco screaming at me. I took him to the ramp and dropped him off there. Later he created all kinds of issues and caused me lots of grief in my life. I am a big boy and i handled him but still run into him and must watch myself around this nut case.
Moral is Better to be alone than with the wrong one.

I have since made a better friend and life is all good. I hope you find someone you truely enjoy fishing with.
