Hit up a small lake in Tehachapi today. Water was clear/bright blue and it was fairly windy. Lake looked quite low and it was slimy shore walking out to the edge. Had a good bit of grass in it- reeds/other stuff- and that grew out in some places 200' off the shoreline or more. I saw a LOT of bass between 3-8" in the 4 spots I stopped to fish from. They would follow almost any lute back to shore but even when I went ultralight and used small bee/ant/cricket baits never hooked up. They'd swat at it for sure though. I fished about 2 hrs then met the wifey and some friends at a winery. I've seen pics of bass 2-3lbs coming from the lake so I'll be back!

How far from Edwards is this place?

Something you'll have to start doing is carrying trout power bait and that ultra light everywhere you go. Most nearly all California lakes I've fished have been stocked with trout doing the cooler months, some of the higher elevation stuff gets them year round. A casting spoon can catch them too.

Not trying to convert you just giving you options for getting a bite or two :-*

Glad you got out and found a new place.  And got to visit a winery!  Hopefully the bite will improve when the weather cools.
I knew I shoulda re-tied!!
