For those of us who have a transducer attached to our trolling motor, do you power off your electronics when stowing your trolling motor for a move to another fishing spot or do you leave it on?  Just what is the proper thing to do ?

Just be sure to power off at the end of day. It is better to shut off the individual units before cutting the main power.

Lowrance has a sleep mode for moving from spot to spot, hit the button it's in standby mode, hit the button then the power on and it's going. Save the 'ducer and doesn't need to warm up. When I'm headed out I kill the power the last time I pull the tm out same with the one at the console.

I don't unless it's going to be over a half hour before I deploy the trolling motor, then I use Standby. I set the Max Depth setting to a little more than the lakes' deepest areas so it recovers faster to read the depth after being out of the water.

If I'm just making a short hop I'll leave the unit on.  If a long run is coming on then I'll turn off the unit and stow the motor.

You don't need to cut off power. One push of a button, another push to disable or stop sonar. You can still use the maps. I usually stop it to move very far. Actually I leave it stopped alot because they say the sonar pinging noise disturbs the fish? If I've fished the area I don't need it pinging, whether all that's true or not I couldn't say. I've always got atleast one stopped.

I don't understand why all transducers don't use the kind of wet switch that Humminbird uses on their 360. If it comes out of the water, it automatically shuts off.

The transducer would have to be larger to have room for the probes, and have a power circuit for the wet switch electronics. MEGA LIVE has a wet switch.

If you go to a mapping screen the transducer stops pinging until you go to a sonar screen.

The transducer does not turn off with the full screen chart view, still get a depth readout if the transducer is submerged. I have a unit on my desk with the transducer connected and Sonar ON with the full screen Chart view, the 2D piezo is clicking==I can hear it and feel it.

If you don't put depth readings on the screen the transducer isn't operating, only when you set up the screen for depth to be shown somewhere. In stand-by the transducer is shut off. At least on my Lowrance.
