I took a trip down there for a little bit of a getaway from this awful fishing here in Illinois. We were staying at a place way down on the southwest end in the Emerald Beach area so we fished in that same area. Water temps would range from 88-92 daily. We found our best action by focusing on steep banks and bluff walls using jigs and texas rigged craws. We couldn't buy a bite on shad imitating moving baits. However, we did find some schooling action on the first morning that were willing to eat a walking bait. It was vital that you waited until they started surfacing to cast to them though. Otherwise, you were just wasting time. On the last day, we also did catch one good spotted bass on a walking bait late in the morning by focusing on shady bluff banks. We stumbled across that an hour before calling it quits so I can't say for certain if that was a legit pattern.

I seen your photos, those were some good fish. This time of year, especially in the area you were, the night bite can be awesome....Something to remember for next time.

Table Rock has always been know for a walking bait bite, but you figured out the school deal, gotta wait. Sometimes they will chase a spoon.

Thanks for the report ~c~

The owner of the place we stayed at said that it has a good night bite as well. I've never done much night fishing. I should give that a try.
