Well, finally a tournament came all together for me. We fished a LJBC tournament on the Sabine River this past Saturday. The river was low and the tide was pulling out for the first part of the morning. I was surprised to see the water was still stained. I ditched my plan to run south because I knew the water was too low and the area I wanted to go fish would have been nothing but mud banks. I started at one of my key spot that normally produce a couple of fish and it did that morning but they were short. I fish another area I knew the current would be pulling good with the tide and again I caught some fish but they were all small. I ran up to another spot which is very hit and miss but if you get one it generally a good one. That spot proved to be good this day. I pulled in three keepers and lost a really nice one. I left there and headed south to where I wanted to start. the tide was now starting to come in. I caught a few there and one was a keeper. With the water coming up I figured there would be some good trees in the water up North so I ran back North and caught a few small ones and dropped a keeper. I figure this is it I'm going to the scales with 4 fish. With less than a hour in the tournament I ran back where I had caught my first 3 keepers. There were more trees in the water and I ended up catching 2 more keepers and dropping the biggest fish of the day which I just knew was going to cost me. Headed to the weigh in and ended up winning the tournament and taking big bass. I caught the majority of my keepers on a frog. I did catch quite a bit of fish on a fluke and a t-rigged worm but the frog brought the meat to the scales. Congrats to Boo Fontenot for a real nice stringer for 2nd place and Leslie and Greg for a close finish in Third. If you looking to go just get bit and smash some fish the Sabine is the place to do that. There are a ton of small fish right now but you can land in a group of good ones as well.

Where are there some landings on the Sabine?  I guess closest from Alexandria area?
