Fished the old man's club tournament. Daylight to 1. We could have quit at 10 as far as I was concerned... it got brutal hot.

Caught two fish all day, only two bites for that matter and caught them both so I got lucky. One was a 7 pounder though and helped me win the tournament and get big bass. The other was a 2.5 pounder that I was very proud to catch. Everyone had a hard time, they just weren't bitting. Caught both of mine on a black and blue flake Mr. Twister Hawg Raiser. One in 5 foot of water the other in 5 foot of water LOL

Was was not near as clear as normal, probably an algae bloom or something helping out. Water temps were in the mid 80's. I caught my fish mid morning but everyone else reported catching there's at daybreak. Wind was light out of the south, air temp got to upper 90's with heat index well over 100.

Those temp and heat index numbers are brutal. Way to stick it out and congrats on the win and big fish!

Hey, good work and congratulations Mike. A seven pounder will make anyone's day! Seems like the bite has been extremely tough out there since it's gotten hot. I boated my son for his NLJFL championship tournament there this morning. We've been pre-fishing it for a while, took us several days to find them, but then the spots we found during pre-fishing were covered up with salvinia mats today. We resorted to "plan B" and he caught a few short fish and a line-burner that barely bumped. Then it seemed like they completely shut off. Water temp was 87 when we got on the water at zero dark thirty and I believe it had hit 91 by around 9:30 AM. There were a few bass near or over 6 lbs caught, but not by us  lo

It's been hit or miss. Crazy how the bass can pile up in one area on such a little lake. I don't prefish of the old man tournaments but I probably should have, I love Hosston, especially if you can figure them out. I've seen some clubs were catching good stringers out there.
