Fished the H&W Team Trail event and got pounded.... Our bite never materialized for us, but from what I heard the frog bite (our pattern) did materialize for others if you were in the right part of the lake. We managed just 2 fish over 3 pounds and a couple 12 inchers for a total of 9 something. Took well over 20 to win and heard, because we tucked tail and ran, that it took high teens to make good money...

Water was 85-90 degrees, clear on the south end where we fished, and there was a gentle north to east breeze all day. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny by weigh in. Dollar lilies are getting very bad on the south end of the lake, salvinia not so much but I heard up at mid lake and north the salvinia is pretty bad.

We just didn't adapt and it killed us...

Thanks for the report.
I boated my son out there for his NLJFL middle school tournament on May 28. Lots of teams got skunked, and lots more didn't have a limit. And their limit is only 3 fish. We ended up in 11th place with a limit of sub-2 lb fish. I think our weight was around 4.8-4.9, and he had to grind for those. Bite was tough, and once the sun got up and it started getting hot, they really shut off. Even pre-fishing for it, we only caught one over 3 lb. If you managed a couple 3+ lb fish, then don't feel too bad.

11th out of all those anglers is outstanding :toot: that's a big league. Great to see so many young anglers hitting the lakes and off the streets.

I think we were just lucky to get those before it got hot. The weights jumped way up for the places above us. I don't know for sure, but I heard that some of the teams that did better were targeting a few groups of trees on the south end somewhere near the ski road.

I'm pretty sure that's where some of the better bags came from this past Saturday as well.
