Annual trip to Erie didn't disappoint, good fishing, good friends, ok catching.

Arrived in Dunkirk at about 3pm after 600 miles on Monday. Water was about 61° wind was manageable so ran solo to fish outside a spawning cove. Water was covered in pollen and the skies dark. There may have been bedding fish but tough to see. Not my thing.  Didn't seem to be many fish coming in either, though. Caught several flinging a drop shot around before heading in for the night. Next morning a friend and I went back to same Bay. Air temperature was shorts bare feet weather but for some reason the water temperature dropped. 15+ south wind made for a tricky run. We caught several sight fishing but moved out and caught them 4-6 feet coming in on the jerk bait. Caught more jerk baiting in front of Dunkirk. Slower than most years but best of the week. 30 or so with most plus 4 lb. Wednesday was windy again. Thursday too. Friday another friend and I drove to Buffalo and fished the spoils in 15-25' on drop shot....Flat Worm and Hazdong shad. Weather forecast was ugly but as per the week WRONG. Parking lot was empty, we didn't have to pay to launch and had it all to ourselves. Caught 20 or so nice fish. Most Erie "rats" but 2 over 5lbs. Went over and fished Pinehurst from there.....only caught 1 on my usual line. Good day though.
It rained on Saturday so we went looking for walleye. Epic failure. 1 mile drift in front of the Blue Tower, no bass no walleye. None of our group of 10 caught walleye this trip....we usually have a feed. The sun finally came out and we caught some on the jerk bait. Water Temps had fallen 5 ° from Monday. New waves of spawners coming in using the mud/pollen line to ambush.
Sunday we fished Buffalo on the way home.....weather forecast was good with light and variable wind. Over a 100 boats launched before we launched at 9:30. We fished until 1 catching 20 or so. Most small for Erie. None over 5. We fished 15-25' ag again with the hazdong and the flat worm. Fun.
Long drive home. Filled up at the reservation to make the drive a little easier.
