Took my brother on a quick fishing trip Saturday morning as the Fort Buhlow landing is close to the house.  We fished daylight to around 11:00.  Caught 4 decent fish in the 2-2.5lb range on T-rigs and spinnerbait.  Water was stained to muddy once the pleasure boat traffic showed up.  Temps showed around 75-76 and it seemed up a little.  I do believe it was on a rise as well and it seemed a little higher at launch when we loaded up compared to when we launched.  There wasn't much wind as the sun came up and boy did it warm up fast!

Good Job on finding a few, pool 2 can be tricky... The river is way up here in Bossier City last time I crossed over it.

Were these current fish or backwater?

Backwater oxbow.  latest report I've heard on river here locally is that is has risen a tremendous amount in just a couple days.  I'm not sure as I haven't been over or around it to take a look.

That's better than I usually do on the river! Maybe it's the camera, but those bass look pale, like maybe you caught 'em deep or maybe the water stays pretty stained there?

Never fished in pool 2. I've only ever fished pool 5, and only a handful of times. Like Mike said, it's been looking dangerously high the few times I drove over the bridge in the last month or so.

I'll be honest, I hate fishing the river. Not anything to do with the actual fishing, but just because I don't know it well enough, and there are plenty of hazards. Rock jetties, stumps, underwater sandbars, etc. My son had a junior TBF tournament out there last year and the dock talk at weigh in was that there were about three boats that got tore up. I know I knocked a transducer off when I got stuck trying to get through a shallow cut into a lake. And all we caught that time was a bunch of short fish.

It's muddier than normal hence the color of the fish.  Pool 2 doesn't have as much structure as the pools further north and the fishing is generally touch.  Down here, if you find some backwater that is somewhat cleaner and there is some type of structure, you better fish it pretty hard because it's going to have a fish on it.  And yes, it looks as if it has risen alot since Saturday!
