The current problem is the big motor blew its main engine fuse.  I ordered the fuses I needed and today I got my truck back from the body shop and the first task was to bring the boat home so I could put in a new fuse.  Quick job easy to do and right away the trim and tilt was working as it should and all seemed to be good with the world.  I buttoned up the motor and then decided I should bump the ignition key to just make sure I had power at the ignition switch.  That did not go well as planned.  When I turned the key the engine fuse blew out a gain.  Check all the connections and all seems normal but the fact is something is causing it to blow the fuse.  I started to trouble shoot but did not see any obvious problems.  Started thinking the ignition switch might be bad so I went ahead and ordered a new switch.

So the wack a mole game continues. I guess after the switch is replaced I will have to check on the starter solenoid as the next likely mole to wack.  I sure wish I could find someone who can work on these old motors.  Just no one available to do this kind of work in our area unless you take it to a shop and they can play wack a mole at $100 + per hour.  No thanks on that one.  I can do that myself.  I continue to get suggestions from folks but so far I have not caught the brass ring.  So now I am still stuck on dry land but sooner or later I will get these problems solved or at least luck into a solution.  Each step of the way just proves that I am not God's gift to outboard repair, but I am enthusiastic.
