Just wondering if anyone has hit Rocky Gorge this spring? If so, how did you do?

Been out twice so far. Last trip was 4/9 and the water temp was up to mid 50s. Saw a lot of bait schools and carp were doing the deed. The fishing wasn't very good, we only got 3. I'd imagine it's getting better now as the water warms up.

Went to Triadelphia last weekend and did better, caught 5 and saw a lot of bass either paired up or on beds. Water temp was 58 when I launched and up to 65 when I left.

Havent made it out this year.  Usually hit it up around now but pretty busy the next few weekends. @acwatkins - is Triadelphia super low?  Any idea when they are going to close it?

gshappell no it's actually not low, I was surprised. It's not a full pool but most of the shoreline structure is under water and the submerged trees are just poking out. According to the WSSC the closure is happening sometime in June and will go until October. Which is perfect, just when these places start getting tough for me

Sounds good. The carp always were the 1st to give the tipoff spring has arrived. Have they closed the boat ramps at Triadelphia yet ? I saw they pushed the starting date back until June. Good luck on the next trip.

Been doing well on the upper end of rocky. Feel like I've gotten more bigger fish this year both at rocky and tri. Caught some absolute slab crappies and nice sized yellows too. haven't been out on the lower end since last year.

Tri has been fishing really well the past week for me. I go out about 3 times a week minimum usually.  The pike they stocked are definitely getting bigger. I was out this morning, lost 2 pike I saw, 4 bit me clean off, and landed 5 bass. One of which, was the largest of the year for me so far.  Also happened to see a huge musky about 2' under the surface in 6-8' foot of water. Was awesome to see, but he took one look at my bait and swam the other way.

I made it as far as the 29 bridge when I would put in at either Scotts Cove or Supplee Lane. Could never get a battery with enough "oomph" to carry me further up. I did fish the Browns Bridge area when all it had was the beach on the Howard County side, caught mostly pike and a few crappie. I guess they didn't close Triadelphia yet to start dredging? The pike there were stocked early in the 70's, so I guess they have adapted well. The tiger musky are new, stocked by the DNR, I guess to keep the populations of crappie and yellow perch in check. I am gonna try to get up there sometime between they end of May and later to fish the reservoirs. I used to drive up from Florida a couple times a year and fish the lakes, but the last few year the pandemic put the kibosh on that. Thanks for the report and keep on posting, always look forward to reading the reports.

Thanks for the report Revolution! I assume the upper end of Rocky Gorge is the area from the 29 bridge to Browns Bridge? I would launch from either Supplee or Scott's Cove, but never went much past the bridge. Fished at Browns Bridge when the boat ramp was the beach area on the Howard County side. Used to catch northerns and perch, a few mid size bass. The pike in Triadelphia have been there since they were first stocked by the DNR in the 70's to prevent the crappie and perch from becoming stunted. The tiger muskies are new, I think the DNR started stocking them about 2 years ago. I assume they haven't closed Triadelphia yet for the dredging project? When they start, supposed to be late this month or June, you won't be able to fish by boat only shore fish. Thanks for the report, I usually get up a couple times a year to fish the reservoirs, but thelast couple of years the pandemic put the kibosh on that. Thanks again and keep posting, enjoy the reports.
