As bank anglers I'm just curious how many of us actually do this.

Back before my balance and mobility issues became a genuine problem I used to do this a lot. And I caught lots of fish doing it.

I believe it can also offer some advantages in casting angles and in fighting the fish. (A more detailed thread in that is in the works).

I have a nice pair of hip waders and a wading staff that were kept in my vehicle. Made it easy if I decided I was gonna join the fish in their world that day. But I have seen guys in shorts and sandals or flip-flops just walk right on into the water and start casting away  too.

Do you ever do any wading? What do you see as advantages or disadvantages to this approach to fishing?

I have seen people do this in coastal areas, and I have thought about it, but our water is too murky and I would worry about stepping off a ledge and lost half my gear.  But I have thought about it.  Have also thought about doing it trout fishing!
There is nothing like sharing any moment outdoors with someone special!

I used to a lor down here in The Glades, but then I got to where I can't run or move as fast in an emergency. The biggest issue down here was just the snakes. The gators never gave me any trouble.

That's what the wading staff is for. To know what is or is NOT in front of you.
