Who has seen the new Dobyn's Maverick reels?  They are due out in April according to the website,  but I don't know what point in April they will be available.  I plan to order a pair of the casting reels just to see how I like them.  I don't see Gary putting his name on anything that is not quality, so if this is the case, then the $99 price point should make them a winner.

Has anyone out there actually seen one?

I've had my hands on a prototype. Got to disassemble it and take a look. Good stuff. Not sure exactly what the final product is but leading up to it, they are definitely going to be a solid reel that casts a country mile...

I'm extremely curious about this new reel.  I have been told it's a carbon fiber frame and side plates.  I have been skeptical of casting reels that are not machined alloy.  However,  I recently read an article regarding new graphite based materials and processes that have proven those materials to be, in some cases, stronger and able to be configured to tolerances as fine or better that machined aircraft grade aluminum.  This might be exactly what Gary has built the platform on.  The advent of nano based resins might have transcended beyond rods and to reels.  I totally want one.  They have the potential to be extremely light.  More so, the reel provides a continuation of sensitivity to the hand and the frame material can maximize that transfer.  This series has the potential to be a game changer. I'm ready to get one. Blue accents of course.😃
