This fishing report will be a little lame since I did not get any pictures.  I fished a tournament on Lake Keowee today, and I typically do not think about details for a fishing report until after the tournament is over with.  Sorry,  I will try to do better next weekend,  but that report will be in the Georgia forum.

We started out the morning post cold front,  which is almost never good.  The front came through last night,  and even though I caught lots of fish,  and good fish, yesterday in practice,  they just would not cooperate today early on.  The bite early was as close to non-existent as you could get.  What few bites we did get were very short on commitment from the fishes perspective.  As the day progressed, the bite got better.  It never was good,  but we ended the day with maybe a dozen fish between the two of us.

The water temp started out at 58 degrees,  but was at 67 by the end of the day.

The water clarity was exceptionally clear,  with visibility being probably a good 12 to 15 foot.

The lake level is normal.

We fished with a large range of different baits trying to come up with something that they liked,  but all of our fish came on either a shakeyhead work or a small swimbait.  My partner was using a Keitech 2.8 in smallmouth magic color and I used a 4 inch Keitech Easy Shiner in the same color.  The swimbait was by far the best bait of the day.  It was also what I caught 100% of my fish on while practicing yesterday.

Overall,  with today being a slight exception,  the bass bite on Lake Keowee is pretty good right now.  Fish can be caught anywhere,  some are on the banks while there are others offshore on points up to 20 foot deep.

We finished 4th with 10.10 pounds,  and 11.91 pounds won the pot.

If you are planning a trip to Lake Keowee and want more specific information,  shoot me a PM.
