So after getting home yesterday from Cross and washing the salvinia off the boat(was just at the ramp nowhere else) I noticed a big crack on my hull right at the starboard bunk. :-( This one is under the drivers seat and I don't see a good way to get at this to weld. I've welded a crack before up at the bow but had to spend hours removing the flotation foam before the weld would take. I can't even access this spot so I called this morning and filed an insurance claim. Talked to an adjuster already and I have to go around and get estimates for the repair(that part really sucks IMO isn't that what we pay them for?!). I've talked to several of the boat places here and they've all referred to their "sheet metal/welder guy" so I've talked to some of them and will bring the boat by too get an idea what I'm up against.

I did fish Perky on the 30th and we did roll over quite a few stumps so maybe that is what started/caused it. Or since its right beside the bunk I've just never noticed it even with all the crawling around under there I do lol. I didn't notice any water in the bilge this past trip(never got on plane just idled) but the Perky one man when I pulled the plug it gushed out forever. I have 2 tourneys coming up and both are big lakes so I'd hate to chance hitting something there and the crack just explodes. I've attached some close up pics. Hard to tell if the crack goes up under that bunk board or not as it sits.

So with it now being an insurance claim it begs the question- will they total it? I'm not really wanting to get a new boat currently(prices are STUPID!!) but I can't go without fishing!!!!

I hate to say it, but it's going to have to be a mighty high estimate for them to total it. Does your insurance cover a rental?

Update-

So after taking it by 3 places yesterday to get quotes it will def get fixed not totaled out. So Yay I still have my boat and no need to make payments on a new one!! The insurance guy is ok with the cost estimates so far which is good. One more stop this morning to get an estimate then he'll have enough to pick from. I was also told by the welders I could use the boat this weekend just try not to hit a stump in the same spot lol!! Maybe even stop drill it just in case. Whew!

Doesn't Tracker have a lifetime warranty on the hull? Good deal that they can fix it.

Old Fishermen never die, their rods just go limp.

Great news. Looking at it I figured it was totaled for sure. Just the labor of removing stuff to make sure they don't set it on fire on the inside would seem to be extremely high...

Still awesome news ~c~ ~c~

They "do" on the newer models. Not my 2009.

I figured looking at that insurance wasn't going to total it. I have seen that problem before on other boats.  Glad that they will get it taken care of for you. Now just hope it doesn't take them several months!

Rudy, tks for that update.  That was great news.  Did they mention how long the repairs will take?

Donald- I'll fish my club tourney Sat (and not hit any stumps!) and then drop the boat off Sunday and they'll start on it Monday. I need it back Wednesday or Thursday morning at the latest and they know that. Insurance has already paid me which is great!
