Hey guys. I very recently purchased a Stratos rig w/ 150 Johnson. Great boat and motor. Bought it "right"  ;D. I was expecting some maint issues as it has been sitting for 9 months. After 1 hour of ownership,I tilted the motor to remove transom support, and it just kept going up! I had to pull the negative cable to stop the trim motor from running. After some diagnosis with a jumper wire and test light I found a burned relay. Replaced ($3 fix) and all was well on first trip to the lake for shakedown. Then yesterday, I took it for a quick fishing trip.I was running 45 mph across a choppy lake, trimmed up a bit, and the motor went all the way up! ^-^ I have a short somewhere. Any ideas where to start? All 3 stations are in working order!! The first time was at the motor, yesterday at the control box. Also, yesterday after repeatedly pushing the down button, the trim motor stopped running and the motor went down!

Check your trolling motor control harness from the foot switch.  It might have been resting against the front trim switch. I've had that happen before.Other possibility could be a bad switch or something metal resting against the back of a switch.

Thanks for the feedback! I have been going thru everything and have found some sketchy wiring at the front. Intermittent issues are the worst.I have a good friend thats a outboard mechanic. He looked at it yesterday and hit the switch and up, up, and away lol. We put in 2 heavy duty relays, and hit each switch probably 50 times. Never acted up! No wiring short at the motor at all. I am going thru all the wiring to clean it up.
