lou:  do you find a time, place, season for watermelon red?
here, i know that with a bit darker water the fish seem to like california 420 (half green pumpkin, half watermelon red flake).Last year, I ran across one of those Zoom special run colors:  georgia craw.  boy would I like to have more of that!  bought every zoom lizard I could find in that color...

I experiment with color combo's based on the conditions, and hone in the color/size pattern the bass are looking for.

Watermelon red has always been a favorite color Down here.  I have been throwing it for at least 20 years with great results.  Just watch Roland Martin on the south Florida flats throwing a water melon red Senko.  I don't think there is that much difference throwing any shade of watermelon.  The rule I always follow is natural colors when the sun is high, and faker colors like junebug, black, or deep purple, during low light or dirty muddy water.
