3 men in their 40s drowned on Toledo Bend 30 July. Went out in a jon boat and never came back. Bodies were recovered in the San Miguel creek arm area and only 1 was wearing a life jacket.

So tragic. I can't imagine being on Toledo in such a small boat launching from 1215 road. That part of the lake can get real bad with the wind.

Really pisses me off to hear and read news about drownings.  Where is the common sense at ?

Heck I can reminder (during a UBCS Event) out of that same location we all had water coming over the front, sides and back of our 18 - 20ft bass boats.  High wet adventure that weekend.  At least we all were smart and did the right things and all made it back safely.

I hear ya Don... see it all the time 3 or 4 guys in a 12' Jon boat and headed straight across the widest/biggest/deepest part of a lake with zero life jackets worn or even in sight.

Big waters, especially when rough, ain't very kind to us tiny boaters. Even Lake Okeechobee down here, even though shallow, can turn ugly real quick. Sad to hear another reminder like this to wear your PFD and kill lanyards.

I agree completely, Don, and yet right now, after reading or hearing it on the news, somewhere out there, someone else is preparing to do the very same thing. ~b~

One had his PFD on.....what happened there?   No kill switch on and the boat hit him?????  Very sad but curious.  I was at the lake house that day and did not even hear about it until today.  Prayers for the families.  On the way home today ai saw a house on fire and no responders  It was fully engulfed and next door house where next there was no way I could even get close.  I called the police and no one had called it in.  Saw all the fire trucks responding and I hope everyone is ok.  Crazy world right now...you guys be safe!!!!
