Which editing software for action cameras have you guys found works best for you, and why?

Is it free or do you pay a monthly subscription?

Pferox

Filmora Wondershare,
I paid one time about $60. Per license / machine (I use it on two machines).  It can be as complicated as you want it to be.
Premier and a couple other ones are expensive, and have a tough learning curve from what I heard.  I'm not good enough for that kind of cost.  LIke the simple one shot deal of Wondershare.
It is all I ever needed all the time I have made videos.

I use Garmin Edit for my Garmins and GoPro Player for the GoPro. Then I normally use TechSmith Camtasia to make the final video. However, outside of a few family videos, I don't produce much for the YouTube world.

The Filmora is working for me (thanks Pferox!) but I still have a lot to figure out.

For the simple stitching and cutting of files I use the free Windows Movie Maker that comes as standard on every PC. This is also good for adding music and texts.
For the more tricky and detailed things I use a program called VSDC. I pay around $20 per year for this program.

I purchased Corel Video for my PC. I researched and research trying not to buy a program that I wouldn't use all the features yet not short change myself. I found very useful, huge tutorial library that was easy to navigate. For a mechanic this 1's and 0's stuff gets complicated quickly, but Corel was easy for me and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Now... since them I've purchased a Mac and the iMovie that comes with it is lights out simple and powerful. It's tutorial library is YouTube with millions of people sharing the love. I've found a couple folks that make it easy to understand and the rest is history.

Like I keep saying.  " Once you go Mac you don't go back"  I do everything on I movie but have played with Final Cut Pro to go with it but bottom line is no more than I do I movie works simple stupid easy for me.  I do have some converter programs and some Iskysoft stuff that allows me to take video from just about anywhere and convert to quick time and in a couple clicks I am in business on I movie.  I skysoft is also great for pulling down some music from you tube and other places when looking for background stuff.

I use Power Director and I don't think there is anything out there better. However, I haven't used anything else so what the heck do I know.

Well I guess I'm the only Premier Pro user here.  I like it so far.  The learning curve for the first 3 weeks has been steep but only because I want to learn how to do everything, now.

The good news for all of us is the wealth on videos available on YT on how to do anything.

I use Pinnacle Studio 24 Ultimate. Can do just about anything and lots of online how to videos. I find it to be fairly easy to use overall.

Mac is the best, no doubt. I hate these PC's.

Bottom line is most of the editors being listed are functional and can get the job done.  Of course some are more robust than others but usually have an increasing price to go along with them.  It becomes a simple matter of what works for you and meets your quality needs.  No mater what you still have to be willing to put in the time to learn the software to explore all the functions.  Some programs are certainly more user friendly than others,

I posed this question and never answered it. I'm currently using the windows editing program that came with my laptop. It doesn't have a steep learning curve at all, but as I go down this YT rabbit hole further, I have identified I need something better.

I personally don't use action cameras but a video editor I use is https://www.kapwing.com/
If you don't pay the maximum video length is 7 minutes however you could either pay or if you want to save money like I do because I'm a cheapskate is find a cut the parts you want out then take the files find a website you want that will combine those parts for free there are several that pop up here is one https://clideo.com/merge-video

I'm looking for a good editing software that also includes a video recording tool. If anyone has recommendations for user-friendly options that combine both features, I'd love to hear them!

If you want a dope editing software that can also record videos, check out Movavi! It's super easy to use and lets you edit and record all in one spot. It's got cool features to make your projects pop.

I found some tips to get you started, like clipping videos, adding effects, and recording your screen. Honestly, Movavi's the best for editing and recording. If you wanna know more about how to clip on Windows, just look it up!

for me as an Apple fan...easy.  iMovie.  the amount of YouTube videos showing me how to do things is staggering.

I am actually working on a video for work.  boss is making us produce instructional vids.  I am learning as I go.

and listening to my own voice is WEIRD.

I still suggest Wondershare Filmora, or whatever it is called. It will do everything asked here including recording, and overdubs.

When I got into it it was cheaper, and a one shot purchase.  Now, they charge for every major update.  But I usually don't buy an update until it has something that I want added to my program.

They also have add ons you can purchase monthly so it can be as inexpensive or expensive as you want.

Right now most of the updates are AI stuff so I'm not interested in that.

When recording off of the computer, I use OBS, it is actually for streaming live, but it has a recording option and can be used off line.  I used a couple of webcams and an old PC that I repurposed for a lot of my woodworking shop videos. Some recordings were also off the monitor, when talking about Pc Stuff.

Filmora is still working for me after three years, at something like $45/year. There's probably better, but I've done over 600 videos with this software so far with very few issues.

I finally got a Mac this summer and love it now that I know how everything works on it.  It took some time after using windows all these years.  I played around with I-movie, but still prefer my PowerDirector for doing videos.  I know all the features at this point and it doesn't require me to learn something new again.

-Ya Know, after you get used to one program, it is very difficult to learn another one.  I went through a few in the beginning few videos, and then found the one I'm using now and stuck with it, I now know the program like the back of my hand most of the time.

I woke up and worked on my video.  I-Movie is dope!  super easy, and the YouTube videos available make it even easier.

I have to get back with my coworker to film some real footage and this thing is in the bag.

I've used PCs and Macs, and Final Cut Pro on an iMac is the most seamless and fastest program I've used.  Rendering used to take me forever on PCs, sometimes an hour or more depending on the video length.  On a Mac, rendering is super fast because Final Cut Pro was desinged specifically to work on the Apple system.
I do photo and video for an occupation...and I use this stuff every single day.
