My friend Neal asked me to take him to Clear Lake as he has never fished there.  We arrived late Tuesday Morning, fished until about 3:30 when the wind came up then stayed over night in order to get an early start on Wednesday.  Water temperature is 80-83 degrees, there is a continuing algae bloom on most of the lake.  Some areas clearer than others and the wind has a big effect.  Water level is very low for Clear Lake and caution is needed any time you are near shore to avoid hazardous rocks.  Tuesday we fished rocks and drop offs where wind would let us.  I managed just 4 fish, but one was 4 pounds and anther was 3.5.  Wednesday with an early start and a lot less wind we targeted docks with deeper water near by. We fished in the Rattlesnake arm and the South end of the lake.  Neal got on the board with a new personal best of 3.35 pounds then almost immediately improved it with a 4.5!  Both of these came on a Z-man PBJ Hula Stick on a 1/4 oz jig head.  The day continued well with us catching about 30 fish, I also had a 4 pounder and several more over 3 up to 3.65.  Our best 5 weighed just over 19 pounds.  Almost all came on that darn Hula Stick.  I did manage 2 nice ones on a Strike King walking frog.  One hit way out by the boat.  I also threw crankbaits, jigs, dropshot and tried a wobble head.  We did find fish bunched up, caught 5 from one pair of docks and at one point I caught a fish on 3 straight casts.  We quit just before noon because it was getting hot and we had a 2 hour drive home.  Neal was very happy with our success and his new big fish.  I learned some things and hope to get back over there again soon to take advantage of them.
I knew I shoulda re-tied!!

Way to go!! New PBs and over 30 fish is awesome!! Glad y'all were able to catch em around the algae bloom. Heard those are BAD for fish overall.
