out on Guntersville today.  another interesting day to be sure.  here's a view from a wheat field to set the ambience

Cloudy, overcast with occasional spritzes.  Wind out of west at 5-8mph
Water temps 68°F at dawn; 72°F at 4PM.
Air temps:  45°F at dawn; 73°F at 4PM
water clarity clear to stained.

had fun today.  fishing in less than 4 foot of water all day and usually 1-2.  got one to go on a 1/4 ounce popper but most fish came on fluke (bluegill colors).  Bluegill are bedding; bass spawn is winding down.  fluke was fished 'targeted' and deadsticked.  very little action was wanted.  worked edges of primrose beds and emerging pad fields.
best two fish of the day:
19 inch lmb

and a first for me.  native species Bowfin.  maybe 25-26 inches long.  figured 6 or 7 pounds maybe.  tough fighter.  reminded me most of northern pike.  on the deadsticked fluke. saw some baitfish 'flip' near a weed clump, tossed in and the rest is self-explanatory.  some of the foulest smelling poop I've ever experience and I say this a a parent and someone who grew up working hog farms.
:shocking:

CF, congrats on the catching of the Bass  ;)  Those mud fish are a real fighter when they get hooked.  They are a PIA if you let them in the boat.  The one's I've caught bled all over the carpet.

Tks for sharing the pictures.  You use a camera or a phone when you take pictures?

galaxy note 10+ is my phone/camera.  but I typically edit in photo editor (windows 10) prior to uploading to photos.google as host site.

love taking photos in lower light, cloudy conditions.  filters out a bit of the reds/yellows and really allows greens/blues to 'pop'.  also if there is any 'autoflourescents' it shows a little with the UV radiation.

Thanks for the report Coldfront... those bowfin are a blast to catch. A regular we catch a bunch of them here in Louisiana. Really challenging to save a bait that they have tangled with.
