spent a few hours out on upper Chickamauga.  Got on water at about 4PM, off at 7:30PM.
air temps were 65°F to start.  Water temps were 69°F in the backwaters where I was playing.  Water color was stained with about a foot, foot and half visibility.
fish were shallow, 1-2 feet.  wood or rush edges.  t-rigged soft plastics (lizards) was best choice for me today.  best fish about 18 inches.  a couple smaller.  one over-ly amped warmouth.
wind was out of the NNW at 15mph or so.  windy for this part of the world.  bright bluebird skies.

Heading down that way next Wednesday, I am hoping my guide can get gas with everything that is going on down in the southeast US.  Hoping for a great experience down there, first time fishing south of the Ohio River, so pretty excited!

word is that pipeline is 'going' again.  I can tell you that MOST of the gas stations local are out now.  but I did see folks getting gas at walmart (leave it to those folks to figure out emergency logistics) and there was ONE mapco about 4.5 miles away that I did get gas at this morning.
hopefully by end of this weekend it'll be much easier to find gas.
I'm 'on my own recognizence' next week tues-thurs myself.  with fuel, I'm fixin' to be dangerous.
bring your sunscreen.  temps are projected in low 80s with sun.  for you northerners, it'll feel hot.  probably won't be a lot of breeze either.

Thanks for the heads up on the weather!  Hoping the guide can put us on em!  Bringing my Little Brother with me for his birthday present.  Only one question I got for you, does the Chick ever get really rough?  I am just asking cause I tend to get sea sick if it is rough.

rough is relative.  usually you don't deal with whitecaps.  lake runs SW to NE and most times the wind is running about perpendicular to the lake 'run'.  Even then there are a couple of major 'bends/offsets' that break up any long runs for the wind.
it IS a river and they do pull current during the weekdays, so standing waves do set up.  usually not noticable or challenging UNLESS the wind is blowing UPLAKE against the current.
still, most of where I expect you'll fish will be back waters and sloughs.  out of the main current and any potential wind.

my 'boat' is a 17.5 foot Ranger RT 178 (aluminum) with 75hp.  in 8 years there have been less than 10 days I'd not have gone out.  you should be okay.  at most, there's about a mile of lake that can get 1-2 foot 'rollers' that's usually around the nuke plant heading uplake.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me!  My buddy is always trying to get me to go to Erie with them, I always turn them down because I don't want to ruin their day.  Been on Erie one time and it was the sickest I have ever been!  Figured Chick wasn't bad with the way the lake looks with all the curves and turns to break up the wind!
