got a taste of the lake on Friday.  Enough that we headed back out Saturday morning.  Shared the spots with a few folks.  From discussion, sounded like most were catching something.  mainly just focused on ourselves.
Saturday opened up with rain ranging from light to a few squalls with larger drops.  the kind that sting 'a little' when running down the lake.  53°F air temps.  63°F water temps.
picked up where we left on previous evening and worked very slowly, methodically up the banks pitching t-rigged soft plastics.  bites were largely dispersed but came regularly enough.  to give an idea of how slowly we were working, we worked 3/4 of a mile in about 5 hours.  one pass.  picked up maybe 12-15 fish.
decided to check other sections of the lake and ran into flat spawning pockets.  lots of primrose beds; heard quite a bit of bluegill activity.  saw a few blow ups to pulled out frog rods and tried to play.  a few blow ups, but no takers.  saw some activity along the edges and figured I'd try for some bucks cruising.  weightless plastic pitched to edge, pulled off and allowed to sink got a pretty good result.

5 hours 3/4 of a mile is crawling... you'd drive me crazy at that speed LOL but it's what it takes sometimes...

Congrats on a very nice catch!

the tendency is to go faster, cover more water, make more casts.  finding a lot of times these fish really respond to the opposite.
there's a guy who used to guide here on Chickamauga who also competed in tournaments and turned in a 40+ pound sack (5 fish)

Rogne was known to pull up on a spot, powerpole down and just work a certain cast, a certain angle cast after cast after cast after cast.  brutal way to fish.
but as you can see from the link:  brutally effective

I've watched some shock study videos and every time we move thinking we are going to find fish (in our shallow lakes anyway) we are leaving non biting fish to go to more non biting fish. It's more about technique, as you point out, than it is whether or not the fish are there.
