Was at Bass Pro tonight and they have the Revo X on sale discounted from $99 to $79.  Basically the same price as the BPS Pro Qualifier.  How would these reels compare to others in that under $100 price range.   Would like to pickup 2 or
3 of something in that under $100 price range.

What's your thoughts on best bait casting reel for that $100 price point?   Thx

I have a revo I use everyday and have for the last 8 years.  It is bullet proof, casts a weightless senko like a bullet, doesn't backlash, and has a great drag.  I may go tomorrow and buy another.  Thanks for the tip, I hope the new ones are as good as the old ones.

I've heard people say the BPS PQ2 reel is the best reel for $100 because of the dual braking system that it has and most other reels would cost double that to get the same type braking system.  But what do I know I'm new to all of this.  I do like on the Revo X how it has indexing (or clicking) not really sure what it's called on the drag and the spool tensioner.   I'm a big fan of that.

Can't go wrong with either of those or the Shimano SLX and Daiwa Fuego

I'm new to the sport of Bass fishing so still trying to learn.  From the little knowledge I've got it seems most people say the higher the bearing count the better the reel.  I know that can't always be true though.  Having said that everyone seems to love the Shimano SLX.  I've never used one of course but just from an outsider looking in that reel is a 4 bearing system.  Probably the lowest possible you can have in a reel.  Most reals at that $100 price point are 6 bearing.   And the other thing I don't get on the SLX and why people love them so much is they only have a centrifugal brake on the inside.  No magnetic brake on the outside.  Not sure I'd want to pop the side off every time I needed to make an adjustment.  The magnetic brake on my current reel is very nice.  But like I said I'm new and learning.

Please respond and tell me what I'm missing  and why the SLX is so good.  Thanks

Once you  have an SLX set up it is done. No messing around with it while fishing. It is smooth and reliable all day.
I don't even have one but have fished with my neighbors as a comparison to all my high end Daiwas. No it is no Zillion but for the price it is as good as it gets.
As far as bearings go it is not he amount but the quality that helps. Yes more bearings help things work a little smoother but it is not what makes a quality reel.
A solid light weight frame, a good braking system, and the type of spool is what goes into my reel search.
Generally a smaller spool will have more control and a larger spool will allow longer casts.
Hope this helps.

Awesome.  Thanks for the info.  I just ordered 4 SLX combos.  Got them for $129 on sale.  Seems like a hard to beat price for an SLX combo.
