Thinking of using my champ 735 for swim jigs with 25 pound sniper. Any opinions on how this might work?

Gary Dobyns

They'll be guys that recommend the 734C as well. I use the Champ 735C myself and love it. The way I fish it fits the bill perfectly for me. It's my go to rod for swimming jigs.

Some guys call chatterbaits swim jigs but to me they're not the same. I'll throw a swim jig where I can't get a Chatterbait through. If throwing a Chatterbait I'll use both the Champ 735C and also the Champ 736 CB Glass. Just depends on the cover and size of fish I'm libel to catch. Most guys throwing the 736 Glass will throw it everywhere and not change. I like a little more power at times. My 2 cents.

Thank you mr Gary. I figured it might work out great cause the 735c has an insanely soft tip. I've used it for buzzbaits quite a bit and it has just enough to to let them eat then lean in to them. Solid hook set every time

Yup , Champion Xp 735 for swim jigs ! I throw the finesse swim jigs with the light wire in grass with 12 lbs test mono. I do not set the hook , I just reel down and lift. I do not slack line them. I own three of these rods. One rod for each size swim jig 1/4 , 3/8 , 1/2 oz and have never missed a fish or had one come off

Always a 5 power for swimjigs for me. I tend to fish them in heavier weeds than spinnerbaits or chatterbaits.

My CH 735 is my designated swimjig rod. Sticks them good.

I use two rods for swim jigs - the newer Champion 610-4C for skipping them around docs/structure, and the 735 for everywhere else.  I like the shorter 610 for skipping and close quarters ie in canals around docks etc, and the 735 for more open water, grass (when I can find it  ~xyz ) etc.

As Gary posted, for Chatterbaits I use the 735/736CB Glass.  Jig and Trailer get the DX745/746C depending on size/cover.
