Like the title says I wanted to go find some bed fish for tomorrow (when it will be sunny and I may take the wifey) but didn't have much luck today. By the time I'd see a bed the bass would spook off as the boat was too close. Marked a few males and did catch one of them but otherwise a pretty bad day. I did "save" my rod I threw overboard due to cold hands on a cast which is good! Def glad I tied a good knot at the reel as when I snagged the line I had to pull the whole 120ish yards of line to get it back!

Congrats on the catch there buddy.  That's a healthy looking bass.  Glad you were able get your rod and reel back also.  Tks for sharing the pictures with us.

You got the rod back the easy way.....lol  I have went swimming in January to retrieve a rod and reel.  I think we will all be in hibernation for the next week or so....

Honestly if I hadn't had a rod there to grab and swipe to get the line I was already leaning over to go in! Was at the discharge side so 80° water!

And YES we'll be frozen solid next 4 or 5 days...

Nice fish!

Glad you got your rod and reel back.  We lost my sons last spring and never got it back. I am convinced the current took it away from where I was searching.

Catching is always good, even better that it was a decent fish ~c~

Sux to retrieve a sunken rod by pulling line in hand over hand but better than diving after it. Been there done it both ways, I'll take the line version in winter every time, even on a hot water lake; the air is still cold  :surrender:

I would vote for the hot water lake....lol  When I went after mine I was netting a big stripper that we thought was a bass and I kicked my rod over the side in the process.  Told my partner to turn around and I stripped down and put a rain suit on.......it was January and damn cold but in only 4 ft of water.  I still think that I never recovered....lol....but I did recover the rod and reel.
