Kinda curious about some of the Mercury Outboard information features.  Does Merc Monitor provide the same information as Vessel View?

Bassinkorea

I have a MercMonitor, but I don't have vessel view, so I can't really compare the two. My MercMonitor does provide a lot of information, such as.....

Engine hours
Fuel used
Fuel flow
Battery voltage
Trim level
RPM
Water pressure
Economy readouts
Range / gallon
Trip data

Just to name the ones I can think of.

It also gives information on screen with each alarm.

Kinda curious also. Is Merc Monitor the same as SmartCraft?

Just bumping this post to see if anyone else can provide the information.

I have the vessel view mobile module and it transmits the data to my iPhone.  You can have any 5 data points on display at a time.  I chose to have RPM, engine temp, water pressure, voltage and speed as my data points.  You can change it to see other, although I don't recall what those other choices are at the moment...

OK, here is what I want to know.  If you already have the information on the dash, why do you need it on your cell phone.  I am starting to believe it is the same data in two locations.  Or are you indicating you have no dash display and you have to call your app to get it.  That does not sound right.  I would think it is the type of data that you want all the time while you are behind the helm so why not have it displayed where it can be used?

In the case of the MercMonitor, I can see the info on the MercMonitor screen, but can also mirror the same information on my HDS units anywhere in the boat through the NMEA2000 system.

I have the Mobile vessel view because it was my cheapest alternative. The module connects to the outboard and sends engine data via Bluetooth to my mobile phone or tablet.

I receive:
-Voltage
-Engine Hours
-RPM's
-Fault codes
-Scheduled Maintenance
-Fuel data

So, you don't have Merc Monitor or what ever it is called on your dash?  If that is true what gauges to you have on your dash.

Bud they are 2 separate systems, in which both will supply you with the same data. The Mercmonitor is a display gauge on your dash, or networked system on your Chartplotter/Fishfinder Unit.

OR

Mobile Vessel View, is a module attached to your outboard that will send engine data via bluetooth to a SMART Device via an App.

** You only need to pick one.

If this question was directed at me, No, I do not have a Mercmonitor on my dash. I wish, it would be convenient. As I mentioned above. The mobile vessel view was a much cheaper alternative for me.

OK, I get it.  So with vessel view you don't need Merc Monitor and thats is where the savings is from....What can you do with the information you received via the APP,  Can you send it or print it or create an electronic file ? or is it forever in your blue tooth device.

Correct, you do not need a Merc Monitor for the Mobile Vessel View.

The Mobile Vessel View, provides real time data similar to that of a Merc Monitor. As far as creating an electronic file, it allows you  to save information, what type of information I don't remember exactly. The Faulty code feature is a valuable tool.

I have a 1994 Ranger with all analog gauges and dash displays, including the flasher that still works.  Only the tach and water pressure gauges still work.  Speedo, engine temp and other gauges are simply broken or wildly inaccurate.

I have double sided velcro on my steering wheel and on the back of an old iPhone 6.  I stick the phone to the steering wheel at the start of the day and all the information I need is right in front me on my phone, stuck to my steering wheel.

It's heavy duty velcro, so it never comes loose, even in really rough conditions.  Other than the Ultrex, it's the best thing I've ever bought for my boat.
