What are ways to identify a fish's gender on say a pike

Smallie_Stalker

Very difficult. To make things worse some species (supposedly) can change species.

You're best bet is to contact your local Fish and Wildlife department or whatever it is called in your state. And please let us know if you find out anything. We can all learn something here.

So for pike their reproductive organ "size" is the most accurate way to tell. The pic will explain it.

Will this apply for other fish and could you please provide a picture

I don't have any idea for other species. I've looked at dozens of bass and couldn't tell you at all besides any fish over 4lbs I'm going to guess female.

I was curious about pike so googled it. The sites I went too didn't have any pics of "that area" so sorry but can't help you there. They all did say that any pike over 30" is almost definitely a female.
