So after the tourney this weekend and with the boat getting wet and full of pine needles(lots of trees where we parked lol!) and no tourneys for a bit decided to empty the boat. Wow just wow WHERE did all this stuff come from?!?! Ended up taking out 24 combos and all those other planos/other boxes/bags/etc. 148lbs total of what all you see there.  That's a whole other person! Certain things are safety/required items of course.

I know I find comfort in "knowing" I have such and such just in case of "insert certain situation here" but dang!

Anyhow just curious has anyone else ever emptied their boat and figured out how much stuff was in it?!?!

I'm afraid to! got way to much stuff and more in the garage. I think it's becoming a hoarding thing!

I have a sort out of my boat every year, usually in the spring. I add things during the year for each season without taking out the things I don't need any more, and by the end of the year it is full again.

I empty my boat every fall so I can put the boat is storage, that way I do not have to worry about something getting damaged during the winter. So yes I always wonder how I get so much on my boat during one summer.  :surrender:
You got to believe in something and my wife told me to go bass fishing so I do!

It's hard to say what I might find if I were to do that.  lo

Believe it or not, I did not find too many duplicates but I found a whole bunch of similars.   ~gf

This is the first time I've ever done this. I would "love" to have a basic package(weights/hooks/etc) that stays in the boat and then as I go to each lake add in 2-4 planos with hard baits and maybe 15 packs of soft plastics or so. Then when that tourney is over swap the gear out with the "new" lakes stuff.

Rudy, I did that and it really helps.  The best thing was to create a good box of terminal tackle that really is the best help.  It sure makes things easier to find.  I have my soft plastics broken down into two very small soft side bags.  One bag holds about 10 standard packages of soft plastics and the other even smaller bag holds my soft plastic swim baits.  The rest of the stuff is in a few plano boxes in a locker and does not contain a lot of duplications.  I have it broken down into cranks, jigs, spinners including chatter baits.  So in reality I only have about 4-5 boxes that have baits the rest are now empty but I keep them in the boat just because my locker hold 12 plano boxes nicely and leave a nice space for my terminal tackle box.  All the other "extra" stuff I have not put into a craftsman style tool cabinet and is organized so I can easily restock my on board plano and terminal tackle boxes.  In reality I don't keep all that much in the boat, I keep only what I might need to that particular trip.  Oh yeah my rod needs are far less than yours.  I now limit myself to three on deck rods and thats it.  The rod lockers on my 30 year old ranger are not long enough for todays longer rods..

Thanks for the input Bud!

"K.I.S.S." works! I didn't know academy had their terminal box (so got one of the bass mafia ones) but for the price I could 2 or 3 and really have my terminal stuff sorted!!

As for all the rods- I did have several on this trip for my FIL to use. BUT I enjoy having multiple options ready to go so typically have 5 laying on each side of me each trip and then more in the box.

I actually have two of the terminal tackle boxes.  One in the boat and one in my overflow cabinet.  They are marked and filled exactly the same.  I can actually just grab the back up box and put it in the boat and then take the one from the boat and refill it when I get home.  Makes it easy.  This box by the way has high segment separators and the hooks and other items stay in their locations and dont spill out when traveling or riding in the boat.  I think FD has the same box.

My wife knew what I had before we got married. But she said spending my $$ on fishing stuff was way better than at the bar or strip clubs!!

I've got a whole room in the house packed with fishing stuff... she's trying to get me to clean it up so we can use it as a work out room.

I put slatboard up in the mancave and ordered 96 hooks.

Cleaned out the boat and almost everyone was used.  >:D PoPo  ~gf ~roflmao

Needless to say, I was a little shocked.   So I ordered another 96 slatboard hangers  ~shhh

Gee, other than the rods I carry more than that and I have a 16 foot aluminum multi species boat and my man cave looks like a small tackle store. You got some catching up there to do. lo lo lo

Old Fishermen never die, their rods just go limp.

BassmanRudy

So now the boat is cleaned up and more organized!! Put a little board in the middle part to keep those plastic containers from sliding.

Should have taken the "before" pics!!

Think I'll be more efficient now.

I feel better now seeing as I seem to have more stuff in my boat, seems like the more space you have stuff seems to accumulate to fill it.

I have it even worse! My wife is my main fishing partner and when we go to a store she buys more than me! I bet over half the tackle or more is stuff she wanted to try and use. She does use most of it from time to time at least. Then she resorts back to her favorites.
