Having a mildly aggressive personality,  , I sent another email to my list thanking the ones who had contributed and gently reminding those who haven't yet that they still have time.  Below is a copy of the email.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support so far.  Your willingness to help others is exactly what I expected and it makes me proud to call you my friends. 


The following was posted on UltimateBass.com yesterday by the gentleman that came up with this 9 years ago. He will not take credit for it, but the Adopt a Family program was all his idea.



The 2020 Adopt a Family Raffle

Folks, some of you new members don't know me but I'm one of the old guys here and want to give y'all some background on what this program started out as, our idea at the beginning and the inner workings...

We started this, hoping to raise a few hundred dollars to help out needy members here on UB and to say the least it has grown above and beyond what any of us thought it would!

Starting off, we didn't expect much, I remember talking with Cork and both saying if we make $500 bucks we would be proud and it would really help someone in need, our first year we went well over $1K

Through the years, we search for people in our UB online family for those in dire need, honestly we look for people that are about to lose it all, and not by their choices but due to life itself!  A few years back we stretched out to people our staff may know or someone they know that is truly in dire need.

To say Adopt a Family has changed lives is truly an understatement!  It's done more than that, it's made life worth living, saved lives, fulfilled God's plan!

As the program gets older and new members come on board we again see just how great people can be.  We have some members that go above and beyond to make this work and literally change the lives of the family that we choose!

Each year, new people find a way to give, donate prizes, match funds, give again and again...and I can guarantee nobody has ever gave a thought to the prizes when they send the $$

There will be a follow up thread about the family after they have received what YOU donated, you'll really want to read that and get ready for a few tears of joy because YOU helped it come true.

We have staff members that go way beyond and without them this would not be possible!

Mike Cork - probably the hardest thing he works on pertaining to UB all year
Lipripper - without his outreach, just no way this program would be what it is each year
FD - his donations and help in the last few years have literally changed lives more than we could imagine

I know there are more that I'm missing, but these guys have really done an awesome job with Adopt A Family!

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank EACH and EVERY one of you for your donations, your willingness to help us change the lives of people that just got a bad deal, not by choices, but from life in general!

For those who haven't contributed yet, there is still time.  Just respond to this email with the amount you want to give and I'll make the donation on your behalf and collect the money from you later.  But we have to move quickly. My deadline to get the money in is Friday the 18th.  This gives us enough time to get the money to the family before Christmas.




I'm posting this just to show you how easy it is to get people to part from their money if you give them a good reason and an effortless way to do it.

My morning email reminder has generated 3 more donations.

People want to help, just ask them to participate...

I can't thank each of you (FD's Friends) enough for your generous support. As the FD's Friends group you have helped us achieve our annual goal and are looking to set records. I am speechless in a way to show our gratitude, ask anyone - shutting me up is hard to do as I love my soap box.

You all have dug deep for an organization you didn't know until FD told you about us, the generosity is unlike I've seen except here on Ultimate Bass. Our members are the same way, so that means each of you, even if you don't fish, would fit right in here and we'd love to have you join our family (I know a cheap membership plug... that's the soap box setting in)

All UB members have just been issued a last minute challenge....

Ultimate Bass Adopt a Family has just had an anonymous donation of $400. This member does not want the tickets but wants to challenge our members to match his $400. Does not have to be all at once, you can get a piece or all of it, from this point forward until it runs out, each ticket purchase will get this persons tickets until his $400 worth of tickets are gone..

So if you
buy $20 worth of tickets, you'll get your 5 and the anonymous 5.
buy $100 worth of tickets, you'll get your 30 and the anonymous 30.
and so on until we've sold the matching $400 worth of tickets.

Going to make for a tracking nightmare for me LOL but let's meet this challenge
