New Gas Spring on Rod Lockers

BK I have finished the install of the gas springs but taking pictures was not all that possible but I did take a couple that may help.



The length expanded of these springs is 15".  The brackets are placed exactly 15" on the cenerline of the bracket post. The spring simply fits over the post and is secured by an E Clip



This is the mounting bracket on the top of the locker door and the posts of the bracket are in direct alignment with the bracket on the locker wall



The cabinet mounting bracket is secured by two sheet metal screws as shown here and also in direct alignment to the bracket on the lid interior



This is the other rod locker that has been completed.  I was concerned that the 40# lift pressure was too much but as it turns out it is perfect.  The job is done and everything works perfectly.  Not sure if I will do any other lockers since they don't already have the mounting brackets.  The total time to do this install was about 15 minutes.

It looks great.  Tks for sharing the install pictures with us.  Your right it doesn't take that long to do the install if the brackets are already there.  It took me a little bit longer when i did mine I had to install the brackets first.  On my back deck I had to reverse and modified the bracket due to the design of that area.

Thanks for the pics Bud, looks straight forward and will hold the lid open while you do what you need to do with your gear.
