I know a few of you may be in the market for a new gun safe.  Just purchased the Liberty Revere 30 gun safe from Tractor Supply on sale for $629.  I did a lot of research and you will not find a better deal for a fire rated (40 minutes) long gun safe that is also Made in America.  The reality is it is a 15 gun safe in the mixed use configuration, which is how most would probably use it.  The other half has 3 shelves for different things like ammo, valuables and gun accessories.  One thing I really like is it comes with the door organizer, which you might have to pay extra for on other Liberty safes.  The door organizer can hold different pistols, but also has a big document pocket, as well as two pockets for documents in legal size (4 X 10) envelopes.  Another bonus is it has the outlet cut out, so you can add the outlet accessory that you can purchase online at Liberty that would allow you to plug in a dehumidifier or interior lights.

I am very happy with the purchase and am still in shock I found it at that price!

Thanks for the review. I will be looking for a safe during the black Friday sales and that should fit what I need!

Thanks.  I have been looking at that safe on TS's website for a few months.  I guess it's time to pull the trigger..

how is it rated for fire?  i saw a safe and all they did was line the inside with what looked like sheetrock.

i bought a small gun safe.  it looks to be insulated with a fabric.  maybe Nomex?  it is fairly butt ugly on the outside.  gray, and ugly, like it belongs in a 1960's grocery store office.  it is so unbelieavably heavy.

Most safes are lined with sheetrock, the difference being the thickness and door seals which make it last longer. A typical house fire lasts longer and burns hotter (1400°-1800°+) than most of these economy 1200° rated safes, so if you really want a fire rated safe, you want something rated at 1800° for an hour or more. If not, don't worry about the fire rating and just buy something that is at least 25% larger than you need. Even if you don't plan to buy more guns (trust me, they multiply anyway), you will end up using space for important documents and other valuables which tend to be bulky.

I'm clearing out guns. They don't all multiply.

Any safe is better than no safe, but a gun safe should cost more than the price of a couple of your guns. To help against fire, a good location for your Liberty safe would be an exterior wall in the house with the least amount of fuel for fire, or maybe a corner in a below grade basement. To make cutting it open a bit harder, bolt in down well and build it into a wall (box it in).
