We had good discussions and shared great pics last month, let's keep this going into May.

As restrictions begin to ease in some parts of country, where are some you guys headed for your bank fishing adventures?

One of my best friends decided to start getting into fishing (and hunting) last year. Well he finally bought his first baitcaster (Shimano SLX) and I gave him an old rod to have. He came over yesterday and I spooled up his reel for him and taught him the mechanics of the reel.

We then to a small local pond near his house and tested it out while I showed him how to cast and how to pitch. He ended up catching a few decent fish on a swim jig I gave him. His wife is due to have their first baby later this month, so I know his time is going to be limited this summer, but I'm looking forward to getting out and teaching him more about fishing.

And I guess I'm sort of looking forward to getting out and fishing with that ZippyDuck guy too  lo

That's cool... I enjoy teaching people about bass fishing stuff too!! Especially when the student really grasps it, and sticks with it.

If any of you guys fish Lake Osborne, the park Department took some time while the park was closed, to trim and cut a lot of the vegetation along the banks. There is now a lot more Bank access then normal.

Walked the banks again for a bit this afternoon. Not much activity, but I did manage to convince this nice bass to go for my chatterbait. First bass on this style of bait.

The only way to get the bass attention was to drag it quickly along the bottom a few inches at a time. The bass surged towards the jig and sucked it down. So cool to watch!!

There really is no wrong way to fish a chatterbait. You just have to find what style works for you. I take two of the Black and Blue ones and swap the skirt for a Purple & Black, and one with a PB&J now I have all 3 color basis covered.

Congrats on the first Chatter-Bass!

I need to get on the bank a bit more. The ease of the kayak has made it simple for me to get more access, but I need to bring the wife along and roam a few banks. She wants it be warm and comfortable though, so might be another couple weeks, with exception to those really nice days. And with her pregnant I doubt she is going to want to be out in the sun and heat come July so I should probably enjoy this time while we have it!

I hear you.

We've had a big cold spell and a lot of rain here lately. Local waters have risen a bunch in the past two weeks. The warm weather is supposed to be coming back this weekend and then our fish will probably start spawning. Things could get interesting here soon!

I think mother nature has been on quarantine, too. She has been very irritable. Cold, rain and wind is all that we seem to get lately.

Water is officially at the 60* mark and they're on beds. Caught a bunch of 2 pound clones tonight.

Got out with the wife for a couple hours last night. Quiet on the water from the front that rolled through on friday night I think. It was relaxing nonetheless considering she has been stuck in the house. I bought her that nice sierra 693sf and she decided she wanted to learn the baitcaster lol so I threw the wacky rig for a while.

She did pretty good. Couple small over runs but not bad. I turned the brakes up a bit while she was figuring it out and she's not like me trying to chuck it. Much more gentle so has less issues with nesting up at the beginning of the cast.

If they were hungry they weren't eating what we were feeding! I saw plenty of bait up in the shallows and the occasional small bass chasing them. It wasnt for the lack of trying, we threw a bunch of different things at them.
