Anyone ever bought one ?  If so how easy was it to complete the build and do you feel it's a reliable weapon?

Just a curiosity for now.

Back in the day doing them with a drill press was ok if you had a great drill press. Most tried to use a inexpensive one from places like Harbor Freight. They had a lot of play in them especially after some side ways pressure loading the shaft. It made for some not so ideal looking ones. Functional yes pretty not so much.
Last I heard the router style jigs seemed to work a lot better.

Honestly I ended up just purchasing the lowers complete. Savage makes a very reasonable quality lower.

The more I thought about it the 80% can be traced if they really wanted to. So many cameras everywhere, electronic purchases are all traceable. Unless you can get someone to get you a 80% that you have no relations with like a stranger and then have Hillary have him knocked off then it might not be traced to you.

Its just a matter of what ya want. I like building them and I don't sell them so I don't worry about the government. As many as I know out there they will have a HUGE problem if they ever try and come take them. Not to mention many of mine keep falling out of my boat.  lo

Yeah the price on lowers now is so low I wouldn't bother with he 80%.  I heard the same thing, you can do it, but you better know what you are doing and have good equipment.  I would trust it with a couple friends that work at a machine shop, but not much else.  Check out Classic Firearms, they often have them for under $100

Thanks for all the input guys. Looks like a complete lower is the way to go when the time comes.

Is it legal to ship the complete lowers to a street address or do they have to go through an FFL dealer?

Yup. I like going to store purchase mine. My last one I bought at Academy. No FFL fees are added to the purchase this way and I see exactly what I am walking out with.

Same here. And many times the prices are on par with online sales.
