I think I saw this thread somewhere a while ago but can't find it now.  Kicking the tires on buying a new bc, don't really need it but would not mind trying a Kastking if they are any good.  I don't expect them to be as good as my Curado 70 but do they have anything close that is smoooooth, cast great and is good quality for a lot less money?

Thanks

I only have some spinning reels from them and they worked pretty good for snook, juvi tarpon, bass, and redfish. I keep hearing how kastking is junk, and it may be.  But my experience so far has been positive.  I have a high speed baitcaster coming from them this spring that I can't wait to try out.

The new Speed Demon that has a gear ratio somewhere in the high 9's or low 10's has some impressive looking specs on paper and the price is only $120.

They had a Kickstarter campaign they wanted me to sign up for ahead of production. I could have had the reel for $60 shipped. I almost pulled the trigger on that one. Maybe I should have.

Yep that's the one I am waiting for.  Totally forgot about it until this post.  Lol.

I've used five of them for two seasons, the Assassin, and two others... Forget the model names. Kinda as a dare to myself 'cuz I heard how junky they are. I haven't found this to be true. They're smooth, cast well, etc. I have one that got a little noisy on the cast, cleaned it up, it stayed the same, and no problems. I have the white one in a low gear ratio and I've worked the FIRE out of it on a crankbait rod throwin' BIG baits. No problems.

I also have bought a $70 Lew's (model?) and a ABU Pro Max this past couple of years. Comparatively they are slightly smoother than the KK's. Slightly.

That's all I have. I've tried to break one (although I haven't used any with 65# braid for Froggin' and Flippin', let's not get carried away, that's what the old ROUND reels are for). I think they're pretty darn alright. I have no experience with the Diawas and Shimanos that get bragged on here all of the time. I do know that I'm not spendin' triple-digit money on casting reels. Nope.

Finally- ALL of these reels are way lighter than my stand-by old-school Garcias. Wow. And every one of them will outcast those older reels. It's amazing how far reel technology has come.

i have several royale legends that are over 3 years old.  i have only cleaned one of them, and it is smooth as silk.  all of them are.  i bought my wife some of the newer models that have better magnetic brakes, and they are most certainly.

i know LOTS of people say how crappy they are, bla, bla, bla.  but, i would say that if they hold up to my fishing, they are darn good reels.  they are touchy when switching lures that are different weights and aerodynamics.

All my reels are now KastKing from spinning to baitcaster. I don't have any issues with these reels. The are budget friendly and there is a reel that will fit your needs and budget. Need to check Ebay(KastKing seller) and Amazon. Also if you can wait there is Kastking Official Store on Aliexpress. If you like you can PM me I will gladly go into more detail about the reels I have.

Just recently picked up a Speed Demon 9.3:1 for my swim jigs. It's a little bulky and not the prettiest reel but its smooth and hasn't given me any sass

I don't know, looking at the reels and the higher end kastkings are more $ than I thought, I guess I wanted my cake and ice cream too  ;D.   Thanks for your replies.

I have an Assassin for two years now. The only complaint I have is it is noisy. I would rate it equal to an Abu Black Max a good solid reel for the price. What I see there prices are now I think you can do better for the same or a little more money.
