Just read through the newsletter and I am definitely interested in some if the test rods.
Where are these going to fit in the lineup. Above the Sierras or replacing them?
Do you know what powers and lengths other than those mentioned in the letter will be?

Thanks

Mike Cork

I just spoke with Gary on the phone and these didn't come up, he's swamped right now but I'll shoot him a message and tell him that he can't put something like that out without Deets.... Inquiring Bait Monkeys need to know  ~bb ~bb

I just called and asked about pre ordering.... the young lady I spoke to said she didn't think they'd accept a pre-order for fear of it getting lost and to call back Feb 1.  :(

If I read the newsletter correctly Gary said he is offering these to testers for $100 plus $20 shipping and that they would retail for about twice that much. So I'm guessing they will fit between the Sierra and the Champ XP lines.  :-*

Ok great. ;D Any specs like handle material, handle lengths, reel seats, guides, etc would be awesome as well.

Oh and it mentions $20 shipping on them. Would it be ok if I can drive to the store and pick up?

I don't get the newsletter, so how do I get a tester rod?  Can I pick the style/length, etc?

Here is the portion discussing the test rods (Kaden series).
QuoteWe're going to add another series in mid-year. I'm going to try something for the first time ever. I'm going to offer this new series to customers for testing and feedback. There will be 12 models only and I'm making 100 rods per model. These will all be serial numbered so I can track them as well. I'm hoping to move these quickly so I can get feedback on durability and strengths. I normally test rods for a year before I launch a series. I don't have the time to do this with the Kaden series. I have done limited testing and fishing with these rods myself and I'm impressed, so I believe you will be too. I'm going to offer these to the public for $100 plus $20 shipping.  Retail prices will be twice this price when I launch the line. There will be a warranty, of course. These are all cosmetically correct samples.
If these rods are broken within the first 6-months we will do a free replacement, however, if you do not want a replacement I will refund your money when we receive the broken rod. This is something completely new for me and I may love it or regret it☺. I am excited to hear feedback from our customers. I want the good of course, but if there's any bad, I really need to hear it. There will be a few completely new rod sizes and powers for us. There are some really light action spinning rods and a guaranteed homerun 735 Graphite Mod-Fast crankbait rod. I've been asked too many times about lighter spinning rods and a 735CB rod. Watch for the Kaden series around Feb 1st.
You can get the newsletters by going to Dobyns website on the right side at the bottom is a place to sign up for the newsletter.

So this is a secret I've been keeping for a long long time.
The Kaden series ( named after Gary's grandson ) is going to be in the Champion level of rods. He found new material and had to play with it. These will mostly be bottom contact rods with better blanks but the same quality parts as the champion.

That was the hardest secret I've ever had to keep.  ~sweat  I found out about them before G-ville.  :surrender:

He has been working on them since the Xtasy series.

So basically, sometime after Feb 1st, they'll show up on the website?  I thought I had signed up for the newsletter a long time ago, but I guess not.  I'm signed up now.

If you want to order one or more of the test rods, call in on February 1. There will only be 100 of each model available.

First thx for sharing as I detest Facebook along with some other social media.
Man I was sure hoping to get. Full handle and all Fuji components. So two not so good things. :( However I was thrilled with the length 7'4" for the rod. ;D That is a very good length for me on this style rod. Guess I will have to wait and see one.
Dont guess they are posting pictures of them on Facebook too???

Haven't seen any pics yet.

it's called 'marketing' and building a frenzy of pent-up 'need' in the (addict) base.

gets folks who might be thinking about buying 'now' to hold off for a bit?

(that's the nefarious, evil-genious option)

After reading the FB post, I emailed Caitlyn last night and got a call back from Nathan at Dobyns this morning.  I will be the proud owner of a new KD711SF which will be my Ned Rig rod.  Fourth Dobyns and counting.  Super impressed with the customer service at Dobyns.  I was considering the KD700SF but was told that the 711 was the one to go with.

No need to apologize for using social media. You not using it at your age would be a crime probably.  lo
Good luck on picking up a new rod to try. Should be a fun experience checking them out.
