David, welcome aboard!!! As you've seen you'll get answers or places to get answers here. Don't forget to check out the New Members contest, you could win a real nifty prize!!!
BPS has some combos in their PRO QUALIFIER lines that could give your daughter a nice outfit, reliable, sensitive and long lasting at a price point you mentioned. If you have a store near you you should check them out. I have several and pleased with them.

So my daughter loves to fish. We go camping and she just stands on the bank and casts all day. She needs a decent set up. Any recommendations on a good spinning reel and durable rod? Thanks in advance!
Land Big Fish has a sale on Lew's Mach Speed Stick buy one get one free $79. Bought the 6'6" medium for my grandson for Christmas. Water is still hard so we haven't used it yet. I like the feel of it. Might borrow one from him to try.....bet it would be a good jerkbait rod.

Rod just shipped. So what do you guys use on a lake not known for fishing? We would be casting from the bank. Water clear, probably 68-70 degrees and very little cover. A couple weeks ago she caught her first nice bass. A 2.5lb largemouth.

Congrats to her on her first bass! ~c~

If she caught that bass in that same lake I'd bring some of whatever she was using then.

Can't ever go wrong with a Texas-rigged worm. I'd have a few spinnerbaits on hand and maybe some unweighted senkos. If all else fails try inline spinners like the Mepps or Rooster Tail. They are a very overlooked bait for bass. If you don't catch bass you might at least land some gills or crappie on them so she doesn't feel like the day is a complete wash.  :-*

Dobyns Rods   Titan Tungsten   Abu Garcia  Berkley  Pflueger  Spiderwire

zippyduck

A squarebill crankbait, worm, senko, topwater, a grub jig, and a small paddle tail swimbait.
Those should catch bass anywhere.

She caught that bass on a cheap cranbait that we bought at the corner-store because she thought it was pretty. It was a a beautiful lure that caught a nice fish. Definitely going to buy some more quality cranks baits. I have some spinniners and worms and poppers and others mentioned here so I think we're good! Thanks again!

I think we're going to buy a couple kayaks too. I have a new post in the kayak section entitled "New Kayak" if you want to give your 2c.

Legacy was able to order the 663 spinning rod for me. I'll have to break out my baitcaster once again and see if my daughter and I can figure it out. Thanks again.

Where do you live?  What baitcaster/rod combo do you have?  If you live anywhere near me I would be glad to let you and your daughter try out a few different baitcast rod/reel combinations.  Also would help you (to the best of my limited ability) set up what you already have since it seems you aren't there yet.

Can offer reels from 9 brands and rods from 23 brands (only one rod in some brands).  Mostly older models, tho, if that makes a difference.

I really like my Daiwa BG and would suggest the BG2000 for your daughter.  Look on ebay for the best prices (and sometimes Amazon).  If you want to spend less, a brother-in-law has been using a Revros (before the LT model) for several years now.  Just to suggest a couple other options.   lo

EDIT:  The Pflueger President has been a perennial best buy in its price range.  Recently read a thread where several guys thought the new President wasn't nearly as good as the older models.  You might want to look elsewhere.
